Denis Mukwege is a Congolese doctor who specializes in treating women raped during the war. He founded Panzi Hospital and became a global advocate against sexual violence as a weapon of war. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 with Nadia Murad.
Mukwege has become one of the world’s leading experts on the treatment of internal injuries suffered by women subjected to gang rape. He has carried out countless operations, working long days of up to 18 hours.
