Sir Francis Vere (1560/61 – 28 August 1609) was a prominent English soldier serving under Queen Elizabeth I fighting mainly in the Low Countries during the Anglo-Spanish War (1585–1604) and the Eighty Years' War.

Vere [de Vere], Sir Francis (1560/61–1609), Fighting Vere. Francis was an army officer and diplomat, was the second son of Geoffrey Vere (c.1525–1572?) and his wife, Elizabeth (d. 1615), daughter of Richard Harkyns (or Hardekyn) of Colchester, Essex.
Sir Francis Vere, Elizabethan soldier, and his brother Horace are buried in the chapel of St John the Evangelist in Westminster Abbey. Francis has an interesting monument.
