Frank Hughes Murkowski (born March 28, 1933) is an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, he served as a United States Senator representing Alaska from 1981 to 2002 and as the eighth governor of Alaska from 2002 to 2006.

Her father, Frank Murkowski, was an Alaskan banker turned politician who later served as a U.S. senator (1981–2002) and as governor (2002–06). After studying economics at Georgetown University (B.A., 1980), Lisa Murkowski received a law degree (1985) from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
Murkowski was elected governor of Alaska in 2002. As governor, he focused on revitalizing the state’s economy through resource development and on strengthening the education and public safety systems.
