Robert Marion La Follette Sr. (June 14, 1855 – June 18, 1925), was an American lawyer and politician. He represented Wisconsin in both chambers of Congress and served as the governor of Wisconsin from 1901 to 1906.

Robert M. La Follette (born June 14, 1855, Primrose, Wisconsin, U.S.—died June 18, 1925, Washington, D.C.) was an American leader of the Progressive movement who, as governor of Wisconsin (1901–06) and U.S. senator (1906–25), was noted for his support of reform legislation.
Independent and impassioned, La Follette championed such progressive reform measures as regulation of railroads, direct election of senators, and worker protection, while opposing American entry into World War I and condemning wartime restrictions on free speech.

He served as a county district attorney in Wisconsin (1880–84) and in the U.S. House of Representatives (1885–91). Advocating progressive reforms, he was elected governor of Wisconsin (1901–06).
