Ali bin Hussein GBE (Arabic: علي بن الحسين بن علي الهاشمي, romanized: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī al-Hāshimī; 1879 – 13 February 1935), was King of Hejaz and Grand Sharif of Mecca from October 1924 until he was deposed by Ibn Saud in December 1925.
Hussein ibn Ali, emir of Mecca from 1908 to 1916 and king of the Hejaz from 1916 to 1924. He became emir of Mecca in 1908, and during World War I he led the Arab Revolt against the Ottomans. Unable to stave off assaults from Ibn Saud, he abdicated in 1924 and went into exile in Cyprus.

Hussein bin Ali (1852 – 1931) ( حسین بن علی, Ḥusayn bin ‘Alī) was the Sharif of Mecca, and Emir of Mecca from 1908 until 1917, when he proclaimed himself king of Hejaz, which received international recognition. His family had ruled the Hejaz since 1201. His vision was of a restored Arab State, stretching from Yemen to Syria.
Ali bin Hussein, as the King of Hejaz, took office in the middle of a losing war. With the fall of the Kingdom, the dynasty ended up in exile.
