Léon Charles Albert Calmette ( * 12 de julio de 1863 – 29 de octubre de 1933) fue un médico, micólogo, bacteriólogo e inmunólogo francés, y un importante asistente del Instituto Pasteur.

He discovered the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin, an attenuated form of Mycobacterium bovis used in the BCG vaccine against tuberculosis.
Del círculo de Louis Pasteur y su Instituto, Albert Calmette destacó por aunar tres cualidades: ser buen investigador de laboratorio, un buen administrador y un gran estratega. De formación militar mantuvo su independencia como investigador científico pero también atendió las necesidades coloniales.
Albert Calmette, né le 12 juillet 1863 à Nice et mort le 29 octobre 1933 à Paris, est un médecin et bactériologiste militaire français. Sa renommée tient à la mise au point entre 1904 et 1928, avec le vétérinaire Camille Guérin, de la vaccination contre la tuberculose grâce au BCG.
Quizás, desde mi punto de vista, una de las más injustas y notables ausencias en el listado de los premios Nobel, ha sido la del médico Albert Calmette (1861-1933) y el veterinario Camille Guérin (1872-1961). He also described a diagnostic test for tuberculosis, known as Calmette’s reaction. Calmette graduated in medicine in 1886 in Paris.
