Jan Hendrik Oort (28 de abril de 1900 – 5 de noviembre de 1992) fue un astrónomo neerlandés internacionalmente conocido. Estimuló de manera especial la radioastronomía. Es conocido porque el toroide de cometas que envuelve el Sistema Solar recibió su nombre, nube de Oort.

Astrónomo holandés. Jan Hendrik Oort nació el 28 de abril de 1900 en Franeker. Cursó estudios en la Universidad de Groningen. Siendo miembro del observatorio de la Universidad de Leiden, estableció la rotación de la Vía Láctea en la década de 1920, junto con otros colegas del observatorio.
