24 de oct. de 2022 · Pathbreaking Photoconceptualist Rodney Graham, who frequently made himself the subject of his own work, died of cancer October 22 at the age of seventy-three. The news was collectively announced by the many galleries who represented him, spearheaded by Hauser & Wirth.
Rodney Graham nació en 1949 en Abbotsford, una pequeña localidad de la Columbia Británica canadiense, y se trasladó en 1964 con su familia a Vancouver, ciudad en la que ha vivido y trabajado. De 1968 a 1971 estudió historia del arte y antropología, así como literatura inglesa y francesa.
Rodney Graham was known for his conceptual sculptures , text-works, photography and films. Described by the Georgia Straight as “one of Canada’s greatest multi-discipline art stars,” he is often associated with the Vancouver School of artists, which includes Jeff Wall, Ian Wallace, Ken Lum , Stan Douglas and Roy Arden.
