Alcorn State University (Alcorn State, ASU or Alcorn) is a public historically black land-grant university adjacent to Lorman, Mississippi. It was founded in 1871 and was the first black land grant college established in the United States.
The main campus of Alcorn is located on 1700 acres in Claiborne County, Mississippi, seven miles west of Lorman, seventeen miles southwest of Port Gibson, and about halfway between Vicksburg, to the north, and Natchez, to the south.
You can pursue an education at one of our campuses in Lorman, Natchez or Vicksburg or online with the support of dedicated faculty and staff to assist you throughout your academic career. A strong sense of family defines Alcorn. Here, it’s easy to make friends—and make a difference.
