Lois Wilson (née Burnham; March 4, 1891 – October 5, 1988), also known as Lois W., was the co-founder of Al-Anon Family Groups, a 12-Step fellowship for the friends and family of alcoholics. She was the wife of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) co-founder Bill W.
Lois was the eldest of six children. Her siblings were Barbara, Katherine, Rogers, Lyman, and the youngest, Matilda, died in infancy. In her memoir, Lois Remembers, published by Al-Anon Family Groups, Lois recalls her childhood as, “idyllic.” The children were deeply loved by their parents.

They asked the groups to accept the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, with one change. In Step Twelve, “alcoholics” was changed to “others.”.
