15 de ene. de 2020 · The long-simmering tension between Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) and Rufus W. Griswold (1815-1857) began when Griswold—literary critic, editor, and anthologist—published The Poets and Poetry of America (1842) in which three of Poe’s poems appeared.
In August of 2014, we covered the scandal between Poe and Rufus Griswold, Poe’s defamer. We went in depth into the situation and analyzed the happenstances leading up to Griswold’s scheme. However, it should be recognized that Griswold was more than just a villainous character in the life of Poe.

Rufus Wilmot Griswold (Benson, Vermont, Estados Unidos; 13 de febrero de 1812-Nueva York, Nueva York, Estados Unidos; 27 de agosto de 1857) fue un antologista, editor, poeta y crítico literario estadounidense, muy conocido por su rivalidad con el poeta Edgar Allan Poe.
24 de ene. de 2021 · Edgar Allan Poe e Rufus Wilmot Griswold eram, em muitos aspectos, opostos. Poe se considerava sulista pois, apesar de ter nascido em Boston, foi muito pequeno para a Virginia, onde cresceu, já Griswold era do norte, nascido e criado em Vermont antes de se mudar para Nova York.
