If you ever decide to put some big boy/girl pants on, I'd suggest The Thing (1982). It has possibly the best examples of tension and atmosphere put to film. The Horror elements are there, but it isn't "scary" if that makes sense. The film all in's with the feeling of distrust, paranoia, and isolation, and that gives the film palpable tension.

Two Kurt Russell movies I’ve seen recentl. Unlawful Entry and Breakdown. Annihilation and the Quiet Place both build up some crazy amounts of tension. The Wages and Fear (1953) and/or Sorcerer (1977) The latter is a remake of the former but both are pretty much equally intense.
Cary Grant is a government agent who recruits her to infiltrate a group of Nazis in South America. It's super intense, that kind of undercover feeling is something that I always enjoy and find to be very dramatic. It's probably my favorite Hitchcock film and I find it to be the most tense.
