Buzunesh Deba (born 8 September 1987) is a Bronx-based Ethiopian long-distance runner. She won the 2014 Boston Marathon in her personal-best time of 2:19:59. [1] In the race, Deba finished behind Rita Jeptoo, who was later disqualified for doping. [2]

The BAA cites the inability to recover the money from Jeptoo as the reason for the delay, but Deba and her husband are frustrated and disappointed.
