Santiago Bernabéu, nacido en Montealegre del Castillo (Albacete) en 1895, fue jugador, entrenador y presidente del Real Madrid. Bajo su mandato se impulsó la construcción del estadio al que ahora da nombre. Llegó al cargo en 1943 y se mantuvo hasta su fallecimiento en 1978, siendo el máximo mandatario más longevo.
