Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, the second of five children, was born into a distinguished family from Lai'an County, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province. Fortunate to be born into a family that believed in educating both boys and girls, Ruth (right) first attended Ming Teh Girls High School in Nanjing and later transferred to No. 1 Jiading High School.
Chao Family Foundations support for various foundations, including The Foremost Foundation, was started nearly four decades ago by Dr. James Si-Cheng Chao and Mrs. Ruth Mulan Chu Chao.
A resident of Harrison, New York since 1974, Dr. Chao was married to the late Mrs. Ruth Mu-Lan Chu Chao. Dr. Chao says of his wife: “Ruth and I were married for 57 years before she returned to the Lord on August 2, 2007. My wife is the love of my life and my soul mate.”. Together they have six children and six grandchildren.
