John Laurence (Jack) Doyle, an Old Blue who donated generously to Christ’s Hospital and co-founded Friends of Christ’s Hospital in the USA, has died in Cupertino, California. Christ’s Hospital Museum represents and celebrates almost 500 remarkable years of history of one of the oldest boarding schools in England. In 1552 the young King Edward VI responded to an impassioned sermon on the needs of London’s poor, following which he wrote to the Lord Mayor of London, to set in motion charitable measures to help.
Christ’s Hospital provides 15% of all 100%+ means-tested bursaries provided by Independent Schools in the UK. For FCO and Service families who do not qualify for one of our means-tested bursaries we are able to offer a discount of 10% on full boarding fees. Scholarships.
