  4. Biography. John Greig MBE was born on 11 September 1942 in Edinburgh. Despite his boyhood allegiance to hometown team Heart of Midlothian, John spent his entire career in Glasgow with Rangers as a player, manager and director. Greig was voted "The Greatest Ever Ranger" in 1999 by the Rangers supporters and has been elected to Rangers' Hall of Fame.
