  3. Balliol College welcomes visitors who wish to tour our buildings and gardens. We are open as often as we can be, but from time to time there are College events that require the College to be closed. As part of admission, you will be able to visit the gardens, Chapel and Hall. We are open from 10. 00 am until 5. 00 pm (or dusk, whichever is sooner).

Balliol was in 1973 the first of the traditional all-male colleges to elect a woman as a Fellow and Tutor, and the College has admitted women as students since 1979: one of them, Masako Owada (Balliol 1988 – 90, resident in Holywell Manor 1988 – 9 ), was married to HIH The Crown Prince of Japan in June 1993.
