Battier was a huge star in college, securing the defensive player of the year title three times and leading Duke University to a national championship in 2001, while also earning national player of the year honors that same year.
Carrière. Battier speelde collegebasketbal voor de Duke Blue Devils van 1997 tot 2001. In 2001 werd hij als zesde gekozen in de NBA draft door de Vancouver Grizzlies die een paar weken later de Memphis Grizzlies werden. The way Battier prepared himself to go up against the best players was to research their career shot percentage and find out where their weakest spot is on the court. He believes that even the best of the best players have at least one weak link and he wanted to always expose that.
