Gotfrid (or Gottfried) Köchert (22 March 1918 – 6 November 1986), a scion of the Viennese jeweller A. E. Köchert, went on to become a yacht racer after World War II, and competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics.

Gotfrid Köchert was an Austrian yacht racer who competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics. Education. Born in Vienna, spent the 1930s in the United States and studied economics at a college in Florida for two years (1936-1938). Career. Gotfrid (or Gottfried) Köchert was among the most famous Austrian racers of the 1950s.
Gotfrid Köchert became far better known in Austria as an automobile racer than a sailor. He was nicknamed “Racing Jeweller”, because he was born into the very wealthy jewellery dynasty A.E. Köchert, based in Wien (Vienna).
Gotfrid Köchert war der bekannteste österreichische Autorennfahrer der 1950er-Jahre. Ob seiner Herkunft als Spross der Wiener Juwelierdynastie A. E. Köchert wurde er der „rasende Juwelier“ genannt. In Wien geboren, verbrachte er die 1930er-Jahre in den USA und studierte von 1936 bis 1938 Ökonomie an einem College in Florida.
