Guerin, Veronica (1958–96), journalist, was born 5 July 1958 (not, as often given, 1959) in Dublin, one of five children of Christopher Guerin, accountant, and his wife, Bernadette. She was educated by the Holy Faith nuns at Killester and in 1988 earned a diploma in marketing management from the Dublin Institute of Technology.
