John Allen Astin (Baltimore, 30 maart 1930) is een Amerikaans acteur. Astin speelde in 148 films en televisieseries, maar is vooral bekend door zijn rollen als Gomez Addams in The Addams Family en Commandant Matthey Sherman in Operation Petticoat.
Leben. John Astin wurde 1930 als Sohn von Margaret Linnie Mackenzie und Dr. Allen Varley Astin in Baltimore geboren. Nach der Highschool besuchte er zunächst das Washington & Jefferson College und studierte Mathematik, er wechselte dann an die Johns Hopkins University, wo er seinen Abschluss in Schauspiel machte.Während seiner Studienzeit war er Mitglied der Studentenverbindung Phi Kappa Psi.
