On the last Sunday of each liturgical year, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, or Christ the King. Pope Pius XI instituted this feast in 1925 with his encyclical Quas primas (“In the first”) to respond to growing secularism and atheism.
Christ the King, "CtK," was planted in January 2020 and launched later that fall in the midst of the global pandemic. Our parish was created to be a place of love and welcome for the marginalized (the divorced, the LGBTQ+ Community, the overlooked, and the disenfranchised) who still crave to live out a Catholic expression of faith in the context of a welcoming and inclusive parish community.
