Both of Mortara’s career poles came at Tempelhof – both poles in the 2022 double-header – and he progressed through with ease. Daruvala is in the Duels for the second time in Season 10, having also got this far in Diriyah, although he will also be serving a 20-place grid penalty.

Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans was the quickest person on track during the first Free Practice session in Shanghai, as the whole grid was separated by just over half a second. The Jaguar team looked strong throughout the session, which was disrupted by a technical problem for several cars.

He started second after TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein beat him to the Julius Baer Pole Position, with Vergne starting in fifth.. Fast forwarding to the race itself and Vandoorne lost out on a position with the Jaguar TCS Racing duo getting to the front.
