  5. life and career. Dorothy Tristan's parents were from the New York working class. Tristan first worked as a model before starting her acting career on stage in the early 1960s with a traveling exhibition, where she successfully played the role of Charlotte Corday in the production of "Marat / Sade". In 1968 she became a participant in the Jerome Robbins ' American Theater Laboratory.
