Wolfson College started life in 1965 when the University of Oxford founded Iffley College. Later the same year, Sir Isaiah Berlin was invited to be the college’s first president. Through his efforts, generous benefactions were received from the Wolfson Foundation and the Ford Foundation, which enabled the college to include graduate students.
Our College is for mature students who are actively engaged with the world. At Wolfson, you'll live, study, and socialise with mature students from around 100 different countries. We have no hierarchies: there's no high table, our social spaces are shared by everyone. You're just as likely to sit next to the College President as you might a PhD student from another continent.

Wolfson College is located in a peaceful part of Cambridge a few minutes west of the city centre. It is near the Sidgwick and West Cambridge sites and the University Library. There are excellent transport links and plenty of options for travelling to the College using sustainable means.
Recognising that mature students often have unconventional academic credentials, we look for students with potential and who are best suited to the course for which they have applied.
