Scott Caan est né le 23 août 1976 à Los Angeles, en Californie, aux ( États-Unis ). Il est le fils de l'acteur James Caan et de Sheila Ryan ; il a une demi-sœur plus âgée que lui, nommée Tara et 3 demi-frères plus jeunes : Alexander James Caan (né en 1991), Jacob Nicolas Caan (né en 1995) et James Arthur Caan (né le 1er janvier 1998 ).
