In 1911, John Foster Dulles joined ‘Sullivan and Cromwell’, an international law firm at Wall Street and here he specialized in international law. At the time of World War I, he failed to join the U.S. Army due to poor eyesight. However, he was commissioned by the Army as a Major of the ‘War Industries Board’.

J ohn Foster Dulles was perceived by many as cold and combative, but he served six distinguished years as secretary of state for President Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890–1969; served 1953–61; see entry). He worked hard at protecting the West from communist expansion.
Dulles was part of the Senate until 8 November 1949, when an election for the position was held and he lost. In 1950, he was made a US representative to the United Nations. [1] In 1953, he became Secretary of State, and served as such until 15 April 1959, when he left the position because of colorectal cancer. [1] [2] He died on 24 May 1959.
John Foster Dulles was born in Washington, D.C. on February 25, 1888. As a youth, Dulles was extremely talented.
