"We all knew that he had this illness, and that it was catching up to him, but still he kept fighting it because of his love for his music," Frukwan would share a month after Poetic's death.

Prince Paul and RZA lost their passion for the group after The Pick, the Sickle and the Shovel, understandably deciding to focus their energies elsewhere.Frukwan and Poetic kept the name going until tragedy stuck in 2001 when Poetic lost his battle with cancer at just 36 years of age.

The whole incident is somewhat ironic, considering the heritage of the group. The mastermind of the group, the Undertaker, is better known as Stetsasonic's Prince Paul (born Paul Huston), who has produced De La Soul among other alternative hip-hop groups.
Gravediggaz were an American hip hop group from New York. Known for their dark sense of humor and abrasive, menacing soundscapes, Gravediggaz blended hardcore hip hop, gangsta rap and heavy metal with horror elements to pioneer the hip-hop subgenre of horrorcore. The group was formed in 1994, which brought together Prince Paul, Frukwan, Too Poetic and RZA.
