Mark is inarguably one of the all-time great guitarists but, despite playing from a young age and being in various music projects, he didn’t actually form Dire Straits until he was 27.
However, I've seen him play Strats and similar guitars, Les Pauls, and others (I saw a concert with him where he also played a Danelectro guitar, among others). One thing I heard was that for Money For Nothing, he played a Les Paul through a wah pedal that was in the full 'on' position the whole time. 2. Award.
