  6. Apply as a First-Year Student. A first-year student includes anyone who is currently a student in high school or who has not taken college coursework since graduating from high school. Starting on August 1 every year, you can begin applying to the University of WisconsinMadison.

  7. First-year applicants can apply using either the Common Application or the Universities of Wisconsin Application. UW–Madison does not prefer one application over the other. Please choose only one application and use only that application all the way through to submission.
