  2. 17 de may. de 2024 · BRASENOSE COLLEGE History. Brasenose College honours two founders, William Smyth, Bishop of Lincoln (d. 1514) and Richard Sutton, serjeant-atlaw and steward of the nunnery of Syon (d. 1524).

  3. Hace 6 días · The college was founded in 1509 by William Smyth, Bishop of Lincoln and Sir Richard Sutton and took the place of the much earlier Brasenose Hall and Little University or King's Hall. The Old Quadrangle was begun at this date, but the Kitchen Wing may be of the 15th century.

  7. Hace 3 días · In 1686 Sarah, Duchess of Somerset (d. 1692), devised Thornhill to Brasenose College, Oxford, in order to increase the number of scholarships she had already founded there. The Thornhill scholars were to be elected in turn from Manchester, Marlborough, and Hereford schools.
