A veteran of the big bands of Krupa, Barnet, Tommy Dorsey and Boyd Raeburn, Buddy won the DownBeat poll for ten straight years (1945-54).

Recorded for Prestige in September 1965, the album featured Stitt on alto saxophone throughout, with Don Patterson on organ and Billy James on drums.
