Delmar began in musical theatre and acting, so she perhaps still feels that her jazz singing is incidental, an offshoot of her performance training.

Her father was the renowned trumpeter Leslie ‘Jiver’ Hutchinson, a leading influence in the jazz and dance band movement in Britain from the 1930s onwards.
