22 de may. de 2024 · Ian Robertson Underwood (born May 22, 1939) is a woodwind and keyboards player, known as a member of the original version of Frank Zappa‘s band the Mothers of Invention. Following the original band’s split in late 1969, Underwood continued to work with Zappa extensively during the 1970s.

Hace 4 días · After breaking up The Mothers of Inventions – allegedly after seeing Duke Ellington beg his label for a $10 advance – Frank Zappa formed a new band featuring such musicians as Ian Underwood and Sugarcane Harris. He spent much of 1969 working on Hot Rats, now known as the start of the jazz-fusion genre.
