Alternatively, the Stage Stop Cafe at 14A and 85 (essentially the top of the canyon) has excellent food at a reasonable price. The Deadwood Shootout is fun, and you can get dinner in Deadwood. Many of the casino buffets are good. I'd skip Jewel Cave and do the wildlife loop in Custer. I think Crazy Horse is worth the time.
