Named after Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray, the institute provides higher and professional education and technical expertise in the art and technique of film-making and television production. Established in 1995, the institute is an autonomous society funded by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting , Government of India .
Film and Television Institute of India. The Film Institute of India was set-up by the Government of India in 1960 under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The institute was registered as a Society in October, 1974 under the Registration of Societies’ Act, 1860 with the aim to provide high standard film and television education in India.
Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) originally known as the "Film Institute of India," was founded in 1960. Currently, the former Prabhat Studio is the home to FTII Campus. Being one of the top film schools in India, FTII Pune is now a global center of excellence for audio-visual media.
