Perception biography. PERCEPTION were founded as a MAGMA off-shoot quartet by Jeff (Yochk'o) SEFFER (saxophones, clarinets), Didier LEVALLET (bass), Siegfried KESSELER (piano, flute), and Jean-My TRUONG (drums).
Jeff Seffer replaced Raux on saxophone, and Louis Toesca replaced Charlery on trumpet. Their second album, 1001° Centigrades , was released in April 1971. The album won the band more exposure, including a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival .
A saxophone/bass clarinet player by the name Yochk'o Seffer (here, he was called Jeff) joined the band for this album, and boy did he add a lot. He is a true master of his instrument in my opinion. The guitar of the debut is now absent, as well.
If one were to name only one name (oops), that would be the magnificent Yoshko Seffer (here listed as Jeff Seffer), of ZAO and solo fame. Jazz, but not exactly, avant garde - yes, but accessible, not to drown you completely.

Not really a Zeuhl album but listed as such due to group founder Jeff Seffer's stint with Magma at the time. An album of mainly improvised free jazz jamming, clearly a talented bunch but does seem a bit disjointed.
