Romano Romanelli (14 May 1882 – 25 September 1968) [1] was an Italian artist, writer, and naval officer, known for his sculptures and his medals. Romanelli was born in Florence, the son of sculptor Raffaello Romanelli.

Sostenitore del classicismo, fu noto ritrattista ( Ritratto di Giovanni Papini, Firenze, Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Palazzo Pitti ed eseguì vari monumenti, tra cui a Roma in Piazza Albania, quello a Giorgio Castriota Scanderbeg.

After World War II, Romano became known for the creation of the Friezes in South Africa for the Voortrekker Monument, which he did with local artists. Raffaello, one of his sons, also became a sculptor.
