North Georgia College & State University, located in Dahlonega, Georgia, is a public university established in 1873. The campus, situated approximately an hour north of Atlanta, is known for its picturesque setting in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and features a blend of historic and modern architecture.
History of UNG. In early 2012, the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents recommended the consolidation of North Georgia College & State University, which was founded in 1873 in Dahlonega, Georgia, and Gainesville State College, which was founded in 1964 in Gainesville, Georgia.
