Bishabriksha is a 1983 film based on a novel by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. It tells the story of Kunda, a beautiful woman who marries Suryamukhi's brother Taracharan, but faces hardships and misunderstandings.
Since a large part of the novel is about the adulterous relationship between Mahendra and the widow Binodini, the references to Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's Bishabriksha / Vishabriksha could be more than just coincidence. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find out what that novel is about.
