The year my son Cedric Dent was sent to prison for a murder he didn’t commit, it changed everything for me and my family. Except for one thing: the trips I took to Louisiana State Penitentiary to see him.
Ultimately, Hamilton identified 22-year-old Cedric Dent as the gunman. He pointed to Dent in a photographic array and identified him at trial. On May 18, 1999, a jury in Orleans Parish District Court convicted Dent of second-degree murder. Dent was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
