  2. Trumbull College is one of fourteen undergraduate residential colleges of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. The college is named for Jonathan Trumbull, governor of Connecticut from 1769 to 1784 and advisor and friend to General George Washington.

  3. Trumbull College was named for Connecticut Governor Jonathan Trumbull, member of a family who traces its lineage back to the Turnbull family of Scotland. The name Turnbull owes its heraldic origin to the gallantry of a young peasant. In around 1315, a king engaged in a chase was attacked by a bull.
