James Hoyt Wilhelm (July 26, 1922 – August 23, 2002), nicknamed "Old Sarge", was an American Major League Baseball pitcher with the New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, California Angels, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers between 1952 and 1972.

Hoyt Wilhelm was a knuckleball specialist who played for eight teams in 21 seasons, from 1952 to 1972. He had 228 saves, 143 wins and a 2.52 ERA, and was the first reliever elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985.

In the latter half of his career, he was equally renowned for his advanced age — he had become an “old” knuckleballer.
Hoyt Wilhelm was a Hall of Fame pitcher who played for the New York Giants, Baltimore Orioles and San Francisco Giants from 1952 to 1970. He had a career ERA of 2.52 and 1610 strikeouts, and was a two-time All-Star and a World Series champion.
