In der höchsten Spielklasse des DDR-Fußballs, der Oberliga, spielte er für den SC Lokomotive Leipzig, den SC Leipzig und den aus dem SC herausgelösten 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. Mit dem 1. FC Lok wurde er 1976 FDGB-Pokalsieger.
