The King and the Clown (Korean: 왕의 남자) is a 2005 South Korean historical drama film starring Kam Woo-sung, Jung Jin-young, and Lee Joon-gi. It was adapted from the 2000 stage play, Yi ("You") about Yeonsangun of Joseon , a Joseon dynasty king and a court clown who mocks him.

Sinopsis. La historia tiene lugar en Corea a principios del siglo XVI durante el reinado del rey Yeonsangun de Joseon y se centra en dos payasos callejeros: el varonil Jang Saeng ( Kam Woo Sung) y el femenino Gong Gil ( Lee Joon Gi ). Gracias a su aspecto andrógino, Gong Gil se encarga de interpretar los papeles de mujer y es muy popular.

Synopsis. Set in the early 16th century during the reign of King Yeonsan, two male street clowns and tightrope walkers, Jang-saeng and Gong-gil, are part of an entertainer troupe. Their manager prostitutes the beautiful Gong-gil to rich customers, and Jang-saeng sickens of this practice.
