He is best known for his hit songs "Booted," (1952), "No More Doggin'" (1952), and "Just a Little Bit" (1960). Gordon was a pioneer of the Memphis blues style.
Rosco Gordon (born April 10, 1928, Memphis, Tennessee, USA - died July 11, 2002, Queens, New York City, New York, USA) was an American rhythm and blues pianist. He was one of The Beale Streeters in the late 1940's. He is perhaps best known for his 1952 R&B hit "Booted".
Rosco Gordon not only placed many a hit on the rhythm & blues charts in the 1950s, he is also remembered as one of rock and roll's founding fathers and a key figure in the formation of Jamaican ska.
One of the most distinctive artists of the 1950’s whose influence on Jamaican ska and reggae eventually overshadowed his own formidable career as a rocker which included a handful of big hits along the way for a string of big time labels.
