Vitold Pavlovych Fokin (Ukrainian: Віто́льд Па́влович Фо́кін; born 25 October 1932) is a Ukrainian retired politician who served as the first prime minister of Ukraine from the country's declaration of independence on 24 August 1991 until 1 October 1992.
Fokin, Vitold [Фокін, Вітольд], b 25 October 1932 in Novomykolaivka, Zaporizhia oblast. Soviet Ukrainian Communist Party official and first prime minister of independent Ukraine. A mining engineer, he completed a candidate’s degree in Moscow in 1970.

The new chairman of the government was appointed on June 28. Initially the government was headed by Vitaliy Masol, however he was forced to resign due to heavy student's manifestations in Kyiv. [3] In November 1990 the new chairman was appointed Vitold Fokin who replaced the acting chairman Kostyantyn Masik.
