Johan Henri Gustaaf Cohen, known as Johan Cohen Gosschalk (3 November 1873, Amsterdam - 18 May 1912, Amsterdam) was a Dutch jurist, graphic artist, and painter. His ancestry was Jewish. Johan Henri Gustaaf Cohen Gosschalk (Zwolle, 3 november 1873 - Amsterdam, 18 mei 1912) was een Nederlands jurist, graficus en kunstschilder. Cohen Gosschalk was een zoon van Salomon Levi Cohen en Christina Gosschalk. Zijn zus, Meta Cohen was ook kunstschilder. Hij studeerde rechten.
The inventory of her estate shows that in addition to Van Gogh's paintings and letters, she also had works by her late second husband, Johan Cohen Gosschalk. Her strategy of retaining his best works and controlled selling of others meant that a significant collection remained in family hands.
She remarried in 1901 to the painter Johan Cohen Gosschalk, and the family moved to Amsterdam two years later. Jo sought to raise public awareness of Vincent’s paintings in various ways, including exhibition loans to museums all over the world.
