Charles Montagu Doughty (19 August 1843 – 20 January 1926) was an English poet, writer, explorer, adventurer and traveller, best known for his two-volume 1888 travel book Travels in Arabia Deserta .
Charles Montagu Doughty was a British traveler and writer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all Western travelers in Arabia. Doughty attended the Universities of London and Cambridge, after which he traveled widely in Europe, Egypt, the Holy Land (Palestine), and Syria.
